Celebrating 40 years of social justice in the arts...
This January Dance Brigade celebrates our 40th anniversary with an all-star cast of artists at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Joining the 17 dancers on stage are musicians Holly Near and Patricio Angulo, with musical director Christelle Durandy. This show, Gracias a la Vida: Love in a Bitter Time, is a celebration of our history and bears witness to these tumultuous times. Don’t miss this performance January 13-14, 2017, as it is a testimony to our collective efforts to make a better world.
Your support is vital to keep this all going and this is what you can do:
DONATE to our Building Fund. We are looking at a new building at 16th and Mission Streets! Because our rent keeps going up, we know we would be better served by finding a permanent home for our programs rather than continue with this uncertainty. More on this later, but it looks very promising. We will stay in the MISSION!!
Another way to contribute is to give to our Grrrl Brigade Scholarship Fund. We giveaway over $10,000 every year in scholarships and in the past twelve years have placed 35 Grrrls into the Ruth Asawa School for the Arts. Our youth participate in two 2 professional shows each year, as well as many community outreach performances.
You can also donate to our Artist in Residency Program.
This program sees the development of work that speaks to social justice efforts, finding a voice in the D.I.R.T. Festival – Dance In Revolt(ing) Times. Now more than ever, artists must roll up their sleeves and interpret the politics of today.
Buy Donor Tickets to Gracias a la Vida: Love in a Bitter Time and attend the post performance party on Sunday afternoon and meet the artists. Donor tickets are $100 each.
Thank you once again for your continued support and love. Our goal is to raise $60,000 through our winter fundraising drive. Here is to another year of shared success, developments, and progress for our Dance Mission family.
